Challenge
To create a responsive co-branded AXA and Western Union responsive website that delivers free Life and Disability insurance offerings to consumers in France, sending money via westernunion.com to Senegal in Africa.
My Role
Working in a cross-functional team as the sole UX/UI designer, I was involved in all phases of the project, from defining the solution to delivering final designs.
Tools
Pen and Paper, Balsamic, Sketch, Invision and Zeplin
The Process
I followed the following design process to structure my work during this project.

01 DISCOVERY
Understand the challenge, generate and gather solutions.

02 IDEATION
Define the user flow and sketch several design solutions

04 DESIGN
Iterate and finalise the design for handover to engineers.
01
Discovery
The goal of this phase was to understand the core of the product, what were we offering and who we were marketing it to customers. My focus here was to understand the product while my colleagues in France worked with Western Union to research the customer.
SUMMARY OF USER RESEARCH
- Our customer target market were recent Senegalese immigrants to France who were sending money home to support their families using the Western Union website
- These users had little exposure to insurance prior to this
- The goal for AXA was to tap into this potential market and build a relationship with these customers
Initial PROPOSAL
During the initial team meetings I sketched out several ideas for the product and how we might present it to the customer.

Example of an initial sketch created during team workshops.
02
IDEATION
The objective of this phase was to define the user flow and to sketch out several ideas to detail that flow. These were shared with team members for feedback and went through numerous iterations.
DEFINING THE USER FLOW

Final high level user flow
Wireframes
Mid-Fidelity Wireframes
Once I was happy I had all the screens and scenarios defined in the user flow I returned to the original sketches in Balsamic to update them in order to discuss and share with team members to get feedback.
High-Fidelity Wireframes
My next step was to create a high fidelity prototype in Sketch with a focus on giving more structure to the content and defining the UI. A prototype was then shared with Western Union and the wider AXA team for feedback. As well as the business team, Western Union’s review included feedback from user testing.
Low-fidelity wireframe and first draft of the high-fidelity designs.
